Sustainable Transformation of Waste to Biomethane through Innovative Upgraded Anaerobic Digestion and Gasification

The LIFE-W2B project demonstrates an innovative and integrated approach for transforming organic waste into high-value biomethane and biochar through upgraded anaerobic digestion, solar drying and gasification technologies.

The project aims to enhance circular economy practices, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote sustainable waste management solutions across Europe.

Expected LIFE-W2B Outputs

11,000+ Nm³ of Biogas

100% of produced biogas will be utilized either for biomethane production or for covering heating needs of the facility.

20,000+ Nm³ of Syngas

Produced syngas will be valorized for biomethane production and energy recovery.

115,000+ Nm³ of Biomethane

Biomethane produced through advanced upgrading technologies will support sustainable energy production.

8 t of Biochar

Biochar will be utilized for soil amendments and internal process optimization.

CO₂ Reduction

The LIFE-W2B process contributes to climate change mitigation through sustainable waste valorization and landfill diversion.

The LIFE-W2B Integrated Process

The LIFE-W2B concept combines solar drying, anaerobic digestion and gasification technologies into one integrated waste-to-biomethane system.

Organic waste streams are transformed into renewable fuel gases, biomethane and nutrient-rich biochar through a circular and sustainable process.
